Design Philosophy

TEC Technologies concentrated on the following important features to ensure the outstanding quality and value of the TEC product.

TEC is Scalable - TEC may be deployed on a single server, or on every computer in a network, from very small to very large EHS organizations.

TEC is Comprehensive - TEC allows an EHS organization at any governmental level to manage all of its programs from a central application, without reprogramming.

TEC is Configurable - TEC can begin managing your organization within minutes of being installed on a single workstation. However, the built-in System Architect Module allows TEC to accommodate requirements that are specific to the operation of your EHS agency.

A TEC System Architect may design and add new:

  • Screens
  • Reports
  • Invoices, Statements and Receipts
  • Permits, Licenses and Applications
  • Forms and Personalized Letters

TEC Gives You the Power

  • Describe policies and procedures using YOUR codes and definitions.
  • Specify required & optional information according to YOUR rules.
  • Establish your own default field values.
  • TEC Preferences let each user tailor TEC to work best for them.

TEC Is Very Easy To Use

Convenient access to information is essential. If users cannot find information quickly, the information itself is of little value. Simplicity was an overriding consideration in the design of each of TEC’s modules:

  • Since TEC is a Microsoft Windows application, all user interface is graphical.

  • TEC uses familiar Windows-standard controls (browsers, drop-down lists, radio buttons and check boxes) to make program navigation simple and intuitive.

  • Screen titles and field labels are large and easy to read, with a consistent, logical naming convention. Every screen has a unique ID number, to help speed training and navigation.

  • Command buttons are consistently placed and labeled throughout the system. For example, a new user quickly learns what the “Close” button looks like, what it does, that it’s always located in the lower right corner, and that it performs the same operation on all TEC screens.

  • All TEC operations may be performed with either the mouse or keyboard depending on which the user prefers at the moment. TEC supports keyboard-only power users.

TEC works with Microsoft Office

Create Documents and Reports with Microsoft Word

TEC uses the powerful word processing capabilities of Microsoft Word allowing you to create new forms, letters, invoices, receipts, permits and other documents. All of the text formatting, graphics and hypertext capability built into Word is available for creating and customizing TEC documents, forms and reports.

Retrieve any TEC information using Microsoft Access

Users who are familiar with Microsoft Access™ may opt to use the powerful Access reporting tools to summarize and manipulate data outside of TEC. Reports created in Access can be made instantly available to all TEC users, even those who do not know Access.

Exchange TEC data with Microsoft Excel

TEC and Microsoft Excel™ share a common data interchange format so any information in TEC may be exported and manipulated as an Excel Spreadsheet.

TEC Protects Your Valuable Data

TEC features an advanced “group-based” security system. Each user is assigned to a security group that TEC uses to determine which fields and screens the user is allowed to see and use. A TEC administrator may revise the privileges associated with existing TEC security groups or add new ones according to policies and procedures of each department.

All access is protected by an encrypted user ID and password system. Expiring passwords with adjustable expiration periods are available (although not required) to provide additional protection against unauthorized access to department information. TEC determines each user’s privileges based on the ID and password the user enters when logging into the TEC system.
